1 Cadastral level Soil and Land Resource Inventory was generated through Detailed Soil Survey (DSS) and Updating DSS in 0.98 lakh ha area in the state
2 Stabilisation activities undertaken in 1034.54 ha of landslide prone/ affected areas in Idukki, Palakkad, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Malappurm, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Wayanad districts.
3 Under the project for Protection of catchments of water supply schemes an area of 143.75 Ha in the catchments of Aruvikkara, Sasthamcotta& Peruvannamoozhi has been protected
4 Protected an area of 4123.26 Ha through various soil and water conservation activities across the state under NABARD assisted RIDF scheme
5 419 Ha area in Thrithala and Kuttiyadi constituencies were protected on watershed basis through Development of Micro watershed scheme.
6 53 trainings have been imparted to 2885participants viz.departmental staff, farmers, people’s representatives, students, media persons on soil and water conservation through IWDM-K, Chadayamangalam
7 A total area of 3523.72 ha was protected under Rebuild Kerala Initiative in the six districts of Alappuzha, Thrissur, Idukki, Wayanad, Malappuram and Kozhikode.
8 30974 samples were analysed in the seven Soil Analytical Laboratories of the Department and analytical results were generated and distributed
9 Soil and water conservation activities were carried out in 370 ha of area in Perumatty panchayat for enhancing ground water potential and renovation of 3 ponds were carried out in Alappuzha district
10 MSTL of the Department was utilized for providing soil testing facilities to farmers of remote areas of Wayanad district. 22 campaigns were organized and 661 SHC were distributed
11 NIDA assisted sustainable micro watershed project in 9 local self government institutions in Taliparamba LAC of Kannur district was undertaken and an area of 640 ha was protected.
12 Rs. 3.75 lakh was generated as non tax revenue, by way of analysis of soil samples of other agencies; Rs. 10325/- by way of fees for consultancy services on soil data provided to outside agencies
13 19 Soil and Land Resource Inventory Reports and corresponding interpretative maps were prepared and published during the year.
14 State Soil Museum showcasing diversity and uniqueness of the Kerala soils was strengthened with new exhibits. 10 ‘Mannarivu’ classes were conducted wherein 342 students and 200 farmers participated
15 Updation of database of Mobile Application on “MANNU” was continued during the year, as part of which, 28530 samples were collected
16 Data bank of 37 panchayats of Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam & Thrissur districts was prepared under the scheme “Creation of data bank for classification of land” during 2023-24.
17 In 2023-24; 238 digitized soil maps were completed as part of Special Digitization Drive which was undertaken to bring panchayat wise soil information available in the department to digital platform
18 71 officers were deputed for training (online/offline) on soil survey, GIS and related topics in various national level institutes
19 Total visitors of State Soil Museum during the year was 6077 and non tax revenue generated was Rs.35500/-
20 Provided Soil maps & soil details as per request to Navakeralamission, Harithakeralam mission, Irrigation dept, KVK CARD, Pathanamthitta District Disaster Management Authority, KSEB, Forest dept etc
21 Conducted special studies as part of Drought Mitigation project, CUSAT, Kalamassery, in Kundala tribal settlement area and State seed farm Aluva ( for carbon neutral project)
22 Conducted special project studies in 14 districts related to Production enhancement and soil quality monitoring
23 Conducted infiltration studies, soil quality monitoring of benchmark sites in AEU, carbon neutral study in selected farms of Agriculture dept, demonstration plots , impact assessment of SC works etc
